Sprecher Imperial Stout

Here is my favorite souvenir from our recent trip to Milwaukee.  We had driven to a microbrewery last Monday.  We parked and began wondering around the building and unattended gift shop, looking for someone who might give us a tour or a taste.  Just to kill some time while we waited, we perused a tract display and stumbled upon an advertisement for Sprecher brewery. Since we got no help at this first brewery, we returned to the car and found that Sprecher brewer was only about 4 miles away by GPS.  So we drove on to there.  And I’m so glad we did!  As far as I can tell, all of Sprecher’s beers are superb.  This Russian Imperial Stout is as thick as tar and sweet as molasses.  It tastes like chocolate and coffee and dried fruits, depending on your mood as you’re swallowing.
