It's moving day again for our kids in Iowa City. This treat is nice and malty and makes it a little better going up and down three flights of stairs.

Autumnal Fire
My son, Cameron has finished college and started a real job that has him occasionally visiting Wisconsin. This happy development brings a wider access to the beers of Wisconsin for the reader of this beer book and, more significantly, for my taste buds.
July comes in this year with cloud cover, drizzle and temperatures in the low 60s. So I am happy to have a warming Dopplebock. This is liquid bread, full of the comforting tastes of fresh baked bread. It gets nice praise from BeerAdvocate, RateBeer and Greg -- deservedly so.

Capital Wisconsin Amber
Capital Brewery's Amber Lager has caramel flavors from the malt and some tart cherries in the background.
This is one of the beers my family and I picked up on a recent visit to the Family Beer and Liquor Store. No, I'm not making this up. It is actually called "Family Beer and Liquor". One stop and the whole family can get liquored up.

Supper Club
I really wanted to buy a six pack of this beer, after I got a good look at the label. Its subtle and humble slogan, "Not Bad", made me smile and set me up to have the nice flavor exceed my expectations.
Just what I needed after lawn mowing.

Capital Dark
Sorry, I'm behind in my postings. This one is from 1/27/12.
This was a great beer to sit down, relax and enjoy. I wasn't in a hurry, I just took my time. I didn't rush right to the computer and blog about it either.
I know, you are probably thinking I ought to be able to find something productive to do with my time. Perhaps I could work on perfecting a better bottle opener. Here's a prototype.

You see recently I have had time to kill, as I wait (as patiently as possible) for the batch Cameron and I brewed to properly age and mature. (See the blog entry for January 6, 2012.) I've sampled it a little, but mostly I am just watching it sit there in bottles until Super Bowl Sunday, when I plan to introduce it to some friends.
