Audible Ale

Today I pulled #14 from the Advent Beer Calendar and had the opportunity to once again be impressed with a brew from Red Hook. The tangy citrus hop flavors in this pale ale were a beautiful complement to the leftover fajitas I warmed up for my supper tonight.

Winter Hook #29

Today I pulled #13 from the Advent Beer Calendar and had the opportunity to once again be impressed with a brew from Red Hook. This winter ale is bold and beautiful -- bold in flavor and quite beautiful to look at.

From their website:  “The 29th version of Winterhook brewed for this year offers a rich caramel body that balances a big malt backbone with the aggressively dry hopped brew, making this year’s winter ale slightly naughty and very nice.

Game Changer

I had a pour of this at B-Dub's with some friends. My initial reaction to the first sip was "wow, that's watery". But as I continued to drink it the malty smells and the hoppy flavors won me over. Interestingly, on Red Hook's website they seem to market this as a beer to go with wild wings.

Wise Cracker Wit

It feels good this evening to have nothing to do but sit in the yard with my wife and my dog and drink this tangy, refreshing Wheat beer. The remark on the box it came in says, "BREWED WITH GINGER BUT STILL DIGS MARY ANN."

I've spent the most of this week away at convention trying to help solve all the problems of the Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod. Tonight I'm reminded of something Humphrey Bogart said, "The problem with the world is that everyone is a few drinks behind."
