Beck's Sapphire

The 23rdchapter of the Gospel according to St. Luke describes the death of Jesus on the cross and the 24th chapter gives the resurrection. At the end of chapter 23 there is a little transitional note: “On the Sabbath” [the followers of Jesus] rested according to the commandments.” It was a needed rest I’m sure, between the excruciating stress they had endured the previous day and the flurry of activity that was about to come in the days, weeks and years ahead for Christianity.

Now, as for my Easter weekend, Holy Week has been busy. Tomorrow will surely be a big day. Today I have a chance to rest, think quietly and write a little. I chose Beck’sSapphire for my day of rest.

Having seen this in stores for some time now, I was under the impression from the black label that it was a dark beer. I also assumed it was German. But alas, on closer examination it is a pilsner brewed in St. Louis. Still, it accomplishes its purpose. It tastes good and helps me relax and rest.
