Smithwick's Irish Ale

Yesterday was a beautiful January day in Iowa, surprisingly warm enough to enjoy a Smithwick’s Irish Ale out on the back deck.

Smithwick’s has the nice rich flavor of a dark ale with a subtle but welcome hoppy finish. Although dark in color, it is lighter in mouth feel than some in its class.  It was a wonderful refreshment to enjoy while teaching my son Cameron an important life-lesson or two, like how to stir the pot . . .

. . . and how to pitch the hops.

Keep following as the stuff in that pot develops into a blog entry of its own some day.
