Czechvar

Today my AdventCalendar takes me to the Czech Republic. Czechvar (#9 on the countdown to Christmas) is a traditional old world lager.  Historically, our ubiquitous American Budweiser is styled after this beer. But on this new continent, Budweiser has rice adjuncts to lower the cost (and the flavor) while still keeping the alcohol level. I’d take Czechvar over Bud any day, but since it’s not in the cooler at our corner grocery, I’ll reserve it for special occasions like this.

As soon as I popped the top I got a strong whiff of skunk. Fortunately, there is very little of it in the flavor.
