Side Pocket

About twenty years ago I had a conversation with a beer snob. I remember it distinctly. He was a classmate of mine at the time and he was making some disparaging remarks about some of the popular American brands of beer. He pompously listed off several foreign brands that far excelled the flavors of the common American canned product.

I calmly retorted, “There is more to beer than just taste.”

I recall that conversation tonight as I sip this offering from La Crosse. The taste is a little too sweet for me. This one cannot compare to the brewed treasures of Germany or the British Isles or even the whiney Belgians; but at 8 and a half per cent alcohol . . .  lemme tell you . . .  you get your money’s worth.
