It's Advent, 2015, and with it comes the unique experience of feeling both festive and overstressed at the same time. December stressors in my life include planning for extra services, organizing Christmas parties, rounding up children for Christmas caroling, directing children's pageants, and the greatest stressor ever -- Shopping! But the festivities of December begin with my Beer Advent Calendar. Again this year, my Sandy has brightened my busy Advent with a beer-a-day countdown to Christmas.

2015's Beer Advent Calendar starts out with a solid hit.

This Douple India Pale Ale has a beautiful foundation of malt sweetness balanced with the complex hop flavors. The hop flavors make me think mostly of that large bittersweet citrus fruit, but also of shades of evergreen and freshly mown grass. Additionally, the 10% alcohol may be the reason I'm starting to perspire just typing this.
