Hale's Dunkel

When our kids were younger, when they really liked something, they would often say, “I could live on this!” This was their superlative compliment of appreciation. After some time, as they became more aware of the fact that a person needs a balanced diet in order to live, they amended the line, saying, “I could live on this. . . and carrots.” This Dunkel in my esteem is deserving of this over the top compliment.

Sweet, Nutty, roasted malt flavors in a fizzy mouthful of cold beer are just exactly what I mean when I say beer.

  1. too kind.

I sort of lucked in to a nice dunkel a couple years ago, but had trouble reproducing it.
The trick is to use a lot of Munich grain, but make sure it attenuates well.
A higher final gravity makes it too sweet and thick.
It should be rich in flavor, but not hard to drink.
