I took this picture some years ago while visiting Moscow with Erik Rottmann
(right) and our friend and translator Konstantin Komarov (left).

We stayed three days at a “flat” in a high
rise building. After arriving in Moscow by train from Riga, Latvia, our first
stop (after Red Square) was a supermarket to get provisions for our temporary “bachelor
pad”.
Within a few short minutes in the
store we had a full basket of the food we needed: some sausage, some bread,
coffee and a dozen eggs.
Then we went to
the beer aisle where it took us more than a half an hour to fill our basket
with beer, picking up one bottle at a time, asking Konstantin to decipher the
labels for us, taking a little of this and a little of that.
What fun!
I’m continually grateful
to Konstantin for introducing me to Baltika’s line of beers. I like all the even numbered ones, but “4” is
in the top five of my all time favorite beers.
