Red Granite Lager

#9 in my 2013 Advent beer calendar is the third Baraboo style I've tasted. Looking back at my notes from their previous offerings, I think I've found this to be the one that best hits the mark for its style. I like the nutty grain flavors and the subtle way the hops give a clean finish.

Woodpecker Wheat

The Hy-Vee grocery store chain has, in recent years, risen to the challenge of catering to those of us who are enjoying the variety and novel projects of the craft brew industry. It is fast becoming the "go to" place to pick up a six pack.

Now I discover that they have started making their own label, Baraboo, for our sipping pleasure.

Baraboo's Woodpecker Wheat Ale has a light flavor and body that makes it refreshing, but there's not a lot more stuff to write about the interesting flavor. I do notice a lemony citrus.

Lumberjack IPA

My buddy Erik and I got together and tried out some IPAs to start out this new year. Baraboo's Lumberjack IPA is amazingly full of fresh hops aroma and flavor. 17 years ago, Erik taught me how to brew my own beer.  As we sipped on this IPA we noted how this stark fresh hop character can't be duplicated by the technology available to the aerage homebrewer. So we were glad that the folks at Baraboo in Wisconsin work so hard for us.
