A work day lunch at Old Chicago gave opportunity for this flavorful strong ale produced by the collaborative work of New Belgium and Orval breweries. The additive spices bring out the malty and ester flavors of this dark beer.

Orval
I am concerned for the Belgians. They appear to have an unhealthy self-image. Take this pretentious Trappist Ale for instance. If it could talk I can imagine hearing it speaking with an outrageous French accent, something like this: "Oh! I hate my life. I wish I were Champaign!"
On this lovely day, I think I'll have time later for a nice healthy German lager. If German beers could talk, I can imagine them confidently, happily and loudly saying something like: "Ein Prosit! Ein Prosit! Gemichlikeit!"
