Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Stout

It's that time of year again when I must select just the right beer to have while filing my information with the Internal Revenue Service. This year I selected a coffee stout from Kentucky. Rich, flavorful and thought provoking, it's serving me well as I plow through this arduous task. It's an excellent beer, but I think I like the Bourbon Barrel Ale even better.

Kentucky Ale

When I think of Kentucky I always think of horses and hills and Stephen Foster. I don’t think I’ve ever thought of beer in connection with Kentucky. Turns out I was right. I tasted my first Kentucky Ale today, and confirmed my suspicion that beer isn’t the best thing they have going for them down there.

There is a hint of apple in the smell and taste, not quite fresh apple, more like the windfall that horses would eat.

This was #8 on my AdventCalendar.  Thankfully, tomorrow is another day.
