Riverwest Stein Beer

This makes me think of a nice old-fashioned German beer -- sweet malty goodness, lightly hopped. I'd call it exceptional if it weren't for the dirty aftertaste.

Fixed Gear

Tomato Soup, toasted cheese sandwiches and a Red Ale is comfort food on this Holy (hectic) Week. Notice the grape jelly jar in the background. Our supper conversation tonight was about how it came to be that we like grape jelly on our toasted cheese. Anybody else like that?

Wheat Monkey

Wheat Monkey begins with an inviting wheat aroma followed by a lemony flavor. The whole time I’m drinking it, I have the song “Baby Monkey” running through my head.

Fuel Cafe

Today, 23 days before Christmas, I pulled a Fuel Café from the Advent Calendar. This, like their exceptionally good ESB, is certified organic. The sweet malts balance the coffee bitterness to make a deep, dark, delicious treat to accompany a Quarter Pounder and fries.

Lakefront Organic ESB

I have recently become a vegetarian. This will change little or nothing about my interest in beer. Nevertheless today’s sampling of an Organic ESB from Lakefront brewing was the optimum pairing for my eggplant wrap. I appreciated this good example of the Extra Special Bitter style.

Lakefront Brewery White Beer

Today after church was the annual lasagna fund raiser dinner for our Daycare and Preschool. A while ago I complained to our Daycare director that last year I only got a preschool sized portion. This year they were prepared for me with a plate full. When I got through about half of it and started to slow down, my dear wife and children took me to task for my past grumbling and guilted me into cleaning my plate. After all was said and done, I was happily full this time, and then some.

So for supper I am just having this light refreshing White Beer. The orange is dominant but the layers of yeast and grain flavors make this much more interesting than some of the mass produced versions of this variety.
