Wake Up Dead is about as good as beer gets. How could they possibly make it better? Put it on Nitro! #6 in my 2016 Advent Beer Calendar is a total hit.
Son Cameron gave future son-in-law Miguel a 6 of these for Christmas. This afternoon I noticed a lonely last one, still sitting around in the garage. The super dark roasted flavor was a welcome accompaniment to my chicken cordon bleu for supper.
A Monday off work, a comfy couch and superb beer make for a happy time. The nitro gives a luscious, body and mouth feel and the ale has terrific fresh grain flavor.
This 400 Pound Monkey is
a nice IPA. You have to be impressed with a beer that will leave lacing like
this! Malt goodness is noticeable. The hops come through mostly as bitter and
not so much flavorful.
I just came across “Topof the Hops” on the Internet, a bracketed taste tournament for IPAs. I can’t
tell if the tournament ever got finished, but I see that this Left Hand Brew currently in hand had an unfortunate seed. In the first round, it went against
Ranger, from New Belgium, which is always a winner for this category. Personally,
unlike the Top of the Hops bracket, I’m open for double elimination; I’d be
willing to give this beer a second chance later on.
Here's to 40 years of Saturday Night Live! This American Pale Ale was a great refreshment while watching the SNL anniversary special. Not that there is anything special about it that relates to late night farcical comedy, it's just that I like beer, and this one has great tasting herb and evergreen hop notes.
While it’s sad to hear
someone say, “My friend went to (fill in
the blank) and all I got was this lousy T-shirt,” it is so good to say, “My
friend went to Colorado and I got beer!” Martha McFarland was so kind to think
of me when she visited Colorado last month. She brought me back some fine
samples of the Colorado craft brewing scene. This one was especially great. A
full malty flavor is balanced with citrus hops. I’m glad to have this chance to
sample an excellent beer from Left Hand Brewery, thanks to Martha!
Somehow Sandy can mix cream cheese with some other stuff in a bowl and then produce tasty mints. I don't think I would have ever guessed to put cream cheese in mints. Similarly, I don't think I would have ever thought to put milk in beer, but I'm glad some Brits thought of it a couple of centuries ago and Left Hand Brewery picked up on the idea and made this happy sweet dark Milk Stout Nitro.
