Staghorn Octoberfest

This may be my best favorite of the Oktoberfest style. Nutty and toasty. It paired wonderfully with my fried gourd blossoms.

Moon Man

New Glarus' choice of hops have given this Pale Ale a citrus and refreshing flavor. Very pleasant indeed, but doesn't top Two Women, my favorite from New Glarus.

Two Women

This was a very enjoyable amber lager. I had only two of these Wisconsin beers and I served the second one to Erik Rottmann, who is sharing this good sirloin steak dinner with us. I hope to get some more someday. My son Cameron brought these back for me from his visit to Wisconsin for a training session. He is going back again later this month and asks if there is anything I want him to bring back this time. Now I feel a little bit awkward but I think I need to ask my son, "Hey, can you bring back Two Women from Wisconsin for your Dad and his buddy Erik?"

Totally Naked

Home again after a few days away, I need to catch up on my beer book. Sorting through photos of the trip to Colorado, compiling notes for descriptions and paging through old entries and my mouth won't stop watering. This Wisconsin lager is a cold, clear, easy going thirst quencher.

Spotted Cow

Although I've had Spotted Cow on a number of occasions, it seems I haven't yet put it in my book. With distribution limited to within the state of Wisconsin, this has become a "destination beer" -- you have to go and get it, which Cameron recently did for me on some of his friends when his work took him to Wisconsin for a week.

The full beer flavors in this are enhanced by naturally citrus notes.

Fat Squirrel

Our table at the Water’s Edge Restaurant at The Light House Inn in Two Rivers, Minnesota had a beautiful view of Lake Michigan.

This FatSquirrel from New Glarus was a nice flavored nut brown ale with a pleasing flavor of caramel.
