At first I was taken
aback. This has a stronger grapefruit-like bitterness than I would expect in “special”
bitter. The label says “A well balanced
ale” and if I really think about it, I can notice the sweet malt that is just
not quite overpowered by the hops, leading me to agree that there is balance. The
more I kept at it, the more I liked it.
My Dad used to say, “You
can get used to hangin’ if you do it long enough.” This is a beer that makes me
glad I hung in there for the whole bottle.
